Pertussis (whooping cough) - more outbreaks reported in USA

Cases and outbreaks of pertussis (whooping cough) have been reported from the following localities in the USA:

Cerro Gordo County, Iowa; Flathead, Yellowstone and Ravalli Counties, Montana; Commack, New York; Albuquerque, New Mexico; Chatham, New Jersey; and Madison, Wisconsin.

Travellers are reminded that outbreaks of the highly contagious mumps virus can occur anywhere in the world at any time. Travellers can reduce their risk of exposure to this virus by ensuring that their childhood vaccinations, including measles, are up-to-date prior to travelling.
