Pertussis (whooping cough) - New Zealand outbreak continues

So far in 2012, a total of 322 cases of whooping cough have been reported in Auckland, five times last year's total number of cases.

Travellers are reminded that outbreaks of highly contagious pertussis (whooping cough) can occur anywhere in the world at any time. Travellers can reduce their risk of exposure to this disease by ensuring that their childhood vaccinations, including pertussis, are up-to-date prior to travelling.
