Cases and outbreaks of pertussis (whooping cough) have been reported form the following locations in the USA:

Maryland (Cecil County); New York (New York City [187 cases], Long Island [333 cases] and state-wide [1,288])

Travellers are reminded that outbreaks of highly contagious pertussis (whooping cough) can occur anywhere in the world at any time. Travellers can reduce their risk of exposure to this disease by ensuring that their childhood vaccinations, including pertussis, are up-to-date prior to travelling.
