Pertussis (whooping cough) outbreaks reported in various locations in USA

Cases and outbreaks of pertussis (whooping cough) have been reported form the following places in the USA:

Rhode Island (North Kingston); Utah (statewide)

More than 17,000 cases were reported to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention through July 12. There have been 10 deaths reported. Travellers are reminded that outbreaks of highly contagious pertussis (whooping cough) can occur anywhere in the world at any time. Travellers can reduce their risk of exposure to this disease by ensuring that their childhood vaccinations, including pertussis, are up-to-date prior to travelling.
