Political protests in Ivory Coast leave 10 injured

Ten people were injured in protests in the Ivory Coast when demonstrators in Yamoussoukro protested the results of local elections. Those who supported the losing candidates took to the streets, burning tires and blocking traffic, and police responded with tear gas. Protests also took place in other areas of the country, including the Koumassi areas of Abidjan.

Travellers to the Ivory Coast should be aware of the political tensions and avoid all public gatherings and demonstrations as these situations can turn violent without warning.
