Possible Strike of Public Service in Denmark in April 2018

Public service employees in Denmark are threatening to go on strike in early April due to negotiations over a new collective bargaining agreement. In response, the government has threatened lockouts.

Advice

A large-scale strike would affect the entire public service sector. Transportation services would not operate. Hospitals would continue to run emergency services. Government offices would be closed.

Be prepared for travel disruption if travelling to Denmark in April. When unions send out a declaration of intent to strike, an arbitrator can delay the strike for two periods of 14 days while the parties are brought together for arbitration. If talks do not reach an agreement, the strike will begin on the fifth day after.
