People in four more districts, Morigaon, Nalbari, Bongaigaon and Cachar, will be vaccinated against Japanese encephalitis virus. This brings the total number of vulnerable districts that will be vaccinated to 18.

Advice For Travellers

Japanese encephalitis virus transmission occurs seasonally in Assam, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. Travellers to these states where this virus is circulating can reduce their risk of exposure to this virus by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Vaccination against Japanese encephalitis is recommended for travellers visiting rural areas or engaging in agricultural activities such as rice cultivation.
