Probable cholera outbreak in Jonglei, South Sudan

A possible outbreak of cholera in Duk County has been affecting about 150 children up to the age of 5 between February and April. The cases are reported as “acute watery diarrhea” which is sometimes a term used to describe cholera. All travellers to any area where cholera has been reported can reduce the risk of exposure to this infection by strictly observing all food and water precautions. If gastrointestinal symptoms (e.g., vomiting and profuse watery diarrhoea) develop while visiting the affected area, travellers should seek medical care at once.
