Protest in India November 28, 2016, against demonetization

Banks in India will no longer accept old 500 and 1,000 Rupee notes for exchange. The banks will accept these notes until December 30, 2016, if deposited into customer accounts. Old 500 Rupee notes can be used for certain services up to December 15, 2016.

The government opposition has called for a 12-hour hartal (strike) on November 28 across the state of Kerala to protest the government’s demonetization move. Banks and hospitals are exempt from the strike.
