According to an announcement by the US Department of State, a planned rally by right-wing political groups will take place today from 1400 to 1900 at the Piazza del Popolo in Rome, Italy. About 50,000 participants are expected.

A counter-protest of about 5,000 people is also scheduled at the same time and is expected to take the following route: Piazza Vittorio – via Merulana – via Liberiana – via Cavour – Largo Corrado Ricci – via dei Fori Imperiali – Piazza Venezia – via delle Botteghe Oscure – Largo di Torre Argentina – Corso Vittorio Emanuele II – via dei Baullari – Campo de’ Fiori.

Although each demonstration is expected to be peaceful, clashes broke out last evening at a counter-protest by groups against anti-migration legislation. To minimize safety risk, avoid these areas.
