Protests in Beni, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), after attack by rebels

Hundreds are protesting in the streets of the town of Beni in North Kivo, DRC, after rebels attacked the town and left at least six dead. Since October 2014, there have been regular overnight attacks and massacres of civilians in this area.

Many countries advise citizens to avoid all travel to eastern and northeastern DRC due to the volatile security situation. If travelling outside Goma and Bukavu, avoid travel after dark and travel in a convoy.
