Protests possible during European leaders' meeting in Rome

European leaders will meet in Rome on Saturday, March 25, to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Rome. The police have advised that there will be significant traffic disruptions and public transport closures in the areas involved. Political rallies and protest marches are also scheduled to take place and may turn violent. Australians are advised to avoid central Rome where possible.

Advice

Travellers should always exercise caution and avoid all public and political demonstrations since they may become violent without warning.
