Record number of measles cases is possible in Switzerland

Due to failure to achieve vaccination of 95% of the population against measles, health authorities are concerned that the number of reported cases this year may set a new record surpassing the 4,371 cases recorded during a prolonged outbreak in 2009.

All travellers are reminded that outbreaks of the highly contagious measles virus can occur anywhere in the world at any time. Travellers who have not been immunized may be at high risk.
