Report on Hepatitis C in UK estimates 160 thousand people infected in UK

An official report titled “Hepatitis C in the UK, 2012 report” estimates that there are approximately 160,000 chronically infected persons living in England. The report notes that illness and death due to hepatitis C-related liver disease are still increasing. This infection is predominantly found in certain groups such as some minority ethnic groups and injecting drug users who are at greatest risk due to use of unsterile injecting equipment.
