Reports of Dengue fever cases still rising in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Health authorities of the city's Preventive Medicine Centre have recorded a total of 10,550 patients with dengue fever since the beginning of 2011. There have been 10 deaths. During the first week of November, there were 294 reported cases compared to 261 cases in the last week of October.

Travellers to this area should be aware of the risk of exposure to dengue fever virus and take all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Many persons with dengue fever may not seek medical care and may not be reported to health authorities. There may be many more cases in the community that are not reported.
