Reports of Lyme disease in Michigan, USA, prompts health warning

Sporadic cases of Lyme disease are being reported in the state of Michigan, especially in the areas along Michigan's western shoreline and in the Upper Peninsula. Travellers in areas where Lyme disease occurs can reduce their risk of exposure to this disease by avoiding tick bites, when ever possible, specially when hiking or camping in fields, scrub brush, woods and forests. Checking the skin daily tick checks and prompt removal of an attached tick will help to reduce the risk of infection.
