Restrictions for visiting al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem

Israeli police have implemented age restrictions that prohibit anyone 40 years old or less from entering the al-Aqsa mosque compound. Muslim worshipers prayed in the streets of the Old City in occupied East Jerusalem on Friday.

A heightened security presence in the streets is evident with police deployed throughout the city. Most of the gates leading to the mosque compound were closed, apart from the Lion, Council, Chain, and Ablution Gates.

Advice For Travellers

Ethnic tensions are high, and travellers should be very cautious when visiting this mosque since it has been a focal point for violent confrontations between Jews and Muslims.
