Risk of cholera is high in South Sudan

An outbreak of cholera in South Sudan's Eastern Equatoria state has resulted in 89 cases with 3 deaths. in Juba, a cholera outbreak has continued since May with at least 1,700 cases and 40 deaths. All travellers to any area where cholera has been reported can reduce the risk of exposure to this infection by strictly observing all food and water precautions. If gastrointestinal symptoms (e.g., vomiting and profuse watery diarrhoea) develop while visiting the affected area, travellers should seek medical care at once.
