Russian visitor to Goa, India, dies from malaria complications
A traveller from the Ulyanovsk region died due to complications of malaria that was acquired while on holiday in the state of Goa. The report does not mention if the traveller took anti-malaria medication while in India.
There is a high risk of malaria in most areas of India. All travellers to any region where malaria transmission is occurring can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Anti-malaria medication is recommended.
