Scattered protests across Egypt

Thousands of supporters of ousted president Morsi are holding protests across the country. The protests have been mainly peaceful, but in Alexandria, police fired teargas to break up fighting between two factions. Fighting between these two groups has caused about 100 deaths in the past week alone. An Islamist alliance made an announcement today requesting that Morsi supporters avoid Tahrir Square protests to “avoid more bloodshed.” The alliance still reserves the right to protest in the major squares throughout the capital in the coming weeks.
