Sectarian violence spreads in Cairo, Egypt

At a funeral service for the 4 Egyptian Coptic Christians killed in yesterdays' violence, another Christian-Muslim confrontation erupted at the Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in central Cairo. One person was killed and 84 were injured in several hours of fighting. Police used tear gas to try to disperse the crowd and 11 policemen were also injured. Travellers should be aware of the rising sectarian violence in Egypt and exercise caution if visiting religious sites.
