Security alert for Afghanistan

Some governments have reported that Afghan Taliban insurgents plan to carry out an attack in Kabul City against a compound, possibly located in the Taimani area of Police District 4. The Taliban may also be planning attacks against areas frequented by foreigners, including Hamid Karzai International Airport. Other areas at risk are vehicle repair and fueling facilities and a barbershop on Bagram Road.

Also, there are unconfirmed reports of the kidnapping of a German woman, who is an aid worker with the Germany agency, GIZ.

Advice

Anyone in Afghanistan should avoid these areas and take extra security precautions.

In recently months, attacks have become more frequent, and the security situation has deteriorated. Most countries continue to advise travellers to avoid all travel to this country.
