Security warning for Mali

Some countries have issued security warnings for citizens in Mali regarding the Bastille Day holiday and the end of Ramadan. The Islamic State has urged followers around the world to escalate attacks during the 2015 Ramadan, and there have been recent terrorist attacks in other countries that coincide with Ramadan.

Advice

With respect to your personal safety, be particularly cautious, vigilant and aware of your surroundings around Bastille Day (July 14) and Eid-ul-Fitr (July 14-18). Avoid or be especially cautious in crowded areas, such as markets and areas of celebrations.

Expect an increase in petty theft and crime during these dates.
