Senegal jails men found guilty of homosexuality

Seven men have been jailed for six months in Senegal, after they were found guilty of homosexuality.

Travellers should be aware that homosexuality is illegal in Senegal and is punishable by up to five years in prison and fines of up to $2,500 (US). A 2010 Human Rights Watch report noted widespread abuse of gay men, including torture, particularly by police.
