Serious measles problem in Punjab Province, Pakistan

Public sector hospitals in the Punjab Province are being inundated with measles patients seeking treatment. Last week as many as 99 measles patients were admitted to different hospitals in the province, including 18 in Lahore. So far, 17,948 measles cases have been reported, including 5,204 in Lahore. Travellers are reminded that outbreaks of the highly contagious measles virus can occur anywhere in the world at any time. Travellers can reduce their risk of exposure to the highly contagious measles virus by ensuring that their childhood vaccinations, including measles, are up-to-date prior to travelling.
