Serious typhoid fever outbreak in Rajgurunagar, near Pune, India

Typhoid fever has claimed 1 life and infected at least 40 other people as a result of polluted water supplied to Rajgurunagar in Khed taluka, around 30 kilometers from Pune. Travellers to any area where there are cases of typhoid fever can reduce their risk of exposure by being cautious and avoiding consuming food or water that is contaminated. Vaccination against typhoid fever should be considered, especially if unsafe food or water cannot be avoided.
