Severe rains and flash flooding in Germany and France

Slow moving storms with torrential rain have created flash floods and overflowing rivers in parts of Germany and France. Recently affected areas include municipalities in southern Germany, such as Braunsbach, Simbach am Inn, in Bavaria, Ranshofen and Triftern across the Austrian border and central France.

In France, the River Seine through Paris is at flood level and has burst its banks in places, threatening the Louvre Museum in Paris. The Yvette River has overflowed, flooding Longjumeau to knee depth. The Loing River has overflowed into Nemours. At least 10 people have died as a result of the flooding.
