Severe weather events in Madagascar and Mozambique

Severe flooding in the Limpopo River basin that began about 10 days ago in the south of Mozambique has resulted in the deaths of at least 48 people and the displacement of 146,000 people. Meanwhile, tropical storm FELLENG is bearing down on nearby Madagascar where storm warnings have been issued for Ambodifototra, Toamasina and Vatomandry. Travellers in Madagascar should monitor local weather and emergency reports, if available, and take shelter as necessary. Visiting areas affected by storms and floods is not advisable since essential services, including transportation, may be severely disrupted.
