Sewage contaminates drinking water in Kafr El Sheikh, Egypt

Health authorities reported that 24 people suffered a gastro-intestinal illness at Kafr El Sheikh after consuming water contaminated by sewage. A valve was inadvertently opened and sewage was mixed with drinking water. While the risk to travellers in this incident may be low, it illustrates the importance of avoiding consuming contaminated food or water.
