Slight increase in West Nile fever cases in USA

As the season for transmission of West Nile Fever virus begins, the number of cases of this infection has increased to 7 with 1 case each from Delaware, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and 3 cases from Texas.

Advice For Travellers

Although the risk for most travellers is very low at the present time, as transmission of this virus increases, the risk will increase as well. Since there is no vaccine or treatment for West Nile fever, travellers to areas where this virus has been found can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
