Small girl dies from dengue fever in Luque, Paraguay

A small girl died in the Luque hospital. She was the 12th death in this city due to the dengue fever epidemic that has spread across Paraguay where 55,455 cases have been reported since the start of this year. Dengue fever is a serious disease with possible fatal outcomes. There may be many more unreported cases since counting andreporting may be hampered by lack of local access to health care, and manypersons with mild illness may not seek health care. Travellers to areas wherethe dengue fever virus is active can reduce their risk of exposure to denguefever virus by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
