Small outbreak of malaria in Goiânia, Goiás, Brazil

Three cases of malaria have been diagnosed in Goiânia, one of whom has died. Health authorities are investigating possible local sources of infected mosquitoes. Travellers to any region where malaria transmission is occurring can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Anti-malaria medication is recommended.
