Small outbreaks of measles reported in Uppsala and Stockholm, Sweden

Two outbreaks of measles involving 10 cases in Uppsala and Stockholm have been traced to a person who travelled abroad and returned and spread the illness. Travellers are reminded that outbreaks of the highly contagious measles virus can occur anywhere in the world at any time. Travellers can reduce their risk of exposure to the highly contagious measles virus by ensuring that their childhood vaccinations, including measles, are up-to-date prior to travelling. Unvaccinated travellers can become infected abroad and return home to spread the disease.
