Snake warning in Mekong Delta, Vietnam
Hospitals in the Mekong Delta are reporting that approximately 100 people are bitten by the the local green viper snake every month. About 6 or 7 people are hospitalized every day for this reason. While the bite of this poisonous viper causes a variety of serious symptoms, it is not usually fatal.
Travellers in this region who visit rural villages and areas should be aware of the risk of being bitten by this commonly found snake. If bitten, medical assistance should be obtained as soon as possible.
