Snow storm causes chaos in French Alps

Over 15,000 vehicles are trapped in the French Alps after a storm left heavy snow and ice covering roads just when tourists were heading to and from ski resorts in the Savoie region in southeastern France. Roads throughout Savoie are closed, and more than 2,000 people are stranded at the Chambery airport. The road along the Tarentaise Valley between Albertville and Moutiers has been blocked by cars without snow chains.

Authorities are requesting that drivers exercise utmost caution and to delay their travel if possible.
