Sporadic cases of chikungunya fever reported in Vadodara District, India

Four positive cases of chikungunya fever have been confirmed by laboratory testing in subdistricts of Vadodara District. Earlier, 5 cases were reported from this area several months ago. However, there are reports of an increasing number of cases of fever from Shinor, Chhota Udepur and Naswadi talukas that may be caused by the chikungunya virus. Travellers to this area can reduce their risk of exposure to chikungunya fever virus by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Many persons with chikungunya fever may not seek medical care and may not be reported to health authorities. There may be many more cases in the community that are not reported.
