Advice For Travellers

The risk for the general traveller is low at present due to the small number of reported cases. However, these cases indicate that the virus is present in some localities. Travellers to areas where this virus is circulating can reduce their risk of exposure to Japanese encephalitis virus by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Vaccination against Japanese encephalitis may be considered for travellers visiting rural areas.
