Sporadic cases of West Nile Fever at start of transmission season in USA

Although mosquitoes carrying the West Nile Fever virus have been found in several locations in some states, only 5 people infected with this virus in Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Texas have been reported to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). There have been no deaths so far.

Advice For Travellers

Since there is no vaccine or treatment for West Nile fever, travellers to areas where this virus has been found can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
