Sporadic cases of West Nile fever reported from 15 states in USA

Sporadic cases of West Nile fever continue to be reported from 15 states. The total for this year is now 35 cases with 1 death. States that are reporting cases include Arizona, California (most cases – 8), Colorado, Georgia, Iowa, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, and Wisconsin.

Since there is no vaccine or treatment for West Nile fever, travellers to areas where this virus has been found can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
