Sri Lanka: Train Services Suspended Following Derailment in Kurunegala District

On 27 November, at about 06:25 (local time), the Colombo-bound Yal Devi express train derailed between Galgamuwa and Ambanpola stations in Kurunegala district (North-Western province) causing damage to five compartments. All train services on the Nothern Railway Line currently remains suspended until further notice. Two people sustained minor injuries.

Advice

Sri Lanka Railways has arranged bus services between Maho and Galgamuwa railway stations. Travellers should check with the railway authorities to determine how their travel plans may be affected.
