Strike Action on 10 December in France and Martinique

Members of multiple unions, including the public and transport sectors, teachers etc. have called a massive strike action for 10 December in Paris and Martinique, an overseas region of France, over government's pension reforms. In Paris, the demonstration is expected to take place from Boulevard des Invalides to Place Denfert-Rochereau.

On 5 December, at least 800,000 to 1.5 million demonstrators demonstrated in the French streets over the same.

Advice For Travellers

The action may paralyze schools, nurseries, and all other municipal services. Increased police presence and significant travel disruptions are expected near the demonstration sites. To minimize safety risk, avoid areas of large public gatherings or protests. Even events intended to be peaceful can escalate unexpectedly and quickly become violent.
