Suicide bomb detonated in Nigeria

In Nigeria, a suicide bomber detonated himself close to a Catholic church, killing himself and wounding 3 people. The attack took place in the Wunti area of the Bauchi state, a remote area of northern Nigeria. In 2012 alone, at least 680 people have been killed in bombings and drive-by shootings, with most attacks blamed on the group, Boko Haram.

Travellers should be aware that many countries advise their citizens not to travel to the Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Kano, Kaduna, Plateau and Yobe States, and the southeast areas of Nigeria, at this time due to lack of personal security and terrorist attacks.
