Suicide bomber attack in Luxor, Egypt

A suicide bomber detonated an explosive belt he was wearing near the entrance to the Karnak Temple near the Giza Pyramids in Luxor, Egypt. Two civilians and two police officers were injured, but no tourists were hurt and there were no fatalities.

Many attacks in Egypt have targeted security or police forces in Egypt, but not tourists or tourist sites. This attack is the second in just over a week at a tourist area. With regard to personal security and safety, travellers should exercise caution and remain alert to their surroundings.
