Super Typhoon in Philippines more devastating that predicted (update)

Reports from the central provinces of the Philippines estimate as many as 10,000 people may have died in the storms where sustained winds were up to 313 kilometers per hour. The city of Tacloban has been devastated and looting is reported. Many deaths have been reported in Samar province and other surrounding areas. Travellers should avoid the affected areas, monitor emergency reports, and follow the instructions of authorities.
