Suspected cases of cholera continue to increase in Yemen

As of last week, there were 6,018 people thought to be infected with cholera in a total of 86 districts in Yemen and there has been a total of 76 deaths associated with cholera. Districts where cholera is being reported include: Abyan, Aden, Al-Bayda, Al-Dhale’e, Amanat Al Asimah, Al Hudaydah, Amran, Hajjah, Ibb, Lahj, Sana’a, and Taiz.

Advice For Travellers

All travellers can minimize the risk of exposure to this disease. Strictly observe all food and water precautions in any area where there is cholera. If gastrointestinal symptoms (e.g., vomiting and profuse watery diarrhoea) develop while visiting the affected area, travellers should seek medical care at once.
