Suspected outbreak of cholera in Bissau, Guinea-Bissau

A possible outbreak of cholera has been reported in Bissau. A total of 541 cases and 3 deaths have been registered. Although not confirmed, it is possible that the cause of these illnesses is cholera. Travellers to this area can reduce the risk of exposure to cholera by strictly observing all food and water precautions. If visiting this area and if gastrointestinal symptoms develop, e.g., vomiting and watery diarrhoea, seek medical care at once.
