Synthetic "pot" (marijuana) causes serious illness in New York State, USA

Since the beginning of April, the Upstate Poison Control Center has reported 179 people who were hospitalized after using a synthetic marijuana drug. Most of the cases resided in Onondaga County. In just the last week, there were 11 new cases. These synthetic marijuana drugs (often called “spice” and many other names) contain potentially dangerous ingredients. These synthetic products produce a longer lasting response, potentially in some people unexpected psychotic episodes for the remainder of their life, and apparently can “hook” people within seconds, despite near-death experiences.
