Syrian civil war continues unabatted

Violent clashes between Syrian government forces and the Free Syrian Army continue in and around Damascus, Aleppo and some frontier areas. A new peace mission will attempt to negotiate an end to the conflict. Meanwhile, the large number of refugees that have crossed the border into neighbouring countries poses a humanitarian challenge to provide food, water and shelter. Travellers should avoid all travel to Syria and its border areas with other countries.
