Tanzania gets ready to fight large cholera outbreak

Health officials are working on spreading awareness and starting health campaigns to help prepare citizens for a major outbreak of cholera. So far, there are 458 suspected people infected and 6 people have died, and the number of regions affected have gone from 6 to 14. Regions who have the most cases right now are Morogoro, Dodoma, Mara, Kigoma, Arusha, and Dar es Salaam.

Advice For Travellers

All travellers can minimize the risk of exposure to this disease. Strictly observe all food and water precautions in any area where there is cholera. If gastrointestinal symptoms (e.g., vomiting and profuse watery diarrhoea) develop while visiting the affected area, travellers should seek medical care at once.
