Tanzania: Maintain Caution During Local Body Elections on 24 November

Polls for local bodies will take place at more than 300,000 seats across the country on 24 November. The main opposition party, Chadema, along with six other smaller opposition parties have boycotted this election over alleged government intervention in the poll process.

Protests by opposition parties are possible on the election day and during the counting of votes. Travellers should be cautious and avoid all public and political demonstrations since they may become violent without warning.
